Undersheriff Sean Holmes


Undersheriff Holmes started with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department in 1994 in the corrections division. In 1995 he was promoted to the patrol division where he served as a patrol officer for six years. He was promoted to Corporal and then Sergeant in 2001 until 2004 when he became the division captain. During his time in the patrol division, he served as a field-training officer and was a member of the bike team, dive team, and Emergency Services Unit (SWAT). He has served as the Emergency Services Unit commander and has held positions of operator and team leader. He also previously served as the grant coordinator for the Elkhart County Traffic Safety Partnership as well as the Vice President for the Drug Free Partnership Board. Prior to coming to the Sheriff's Department, Undersheriff Holmes served in the US Navy.  He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Indiana University East and obtained his Associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University at South Bend.
